Guarantees and coverage of Snowcare

This article explains the main guarantees of the Snowcare Platinum policy, with the applicable limits, activation conditions and claim procedures.

The limits shown are those of the Insurance Information Set currently in force, issued by CNP Assurances IARD with Filassistance International (December 2025 edition). If you hold a Snowcare Gold policy, a product no longer marketed, the limits of the Information Set delivered to you at the time of purchase apply.

⚠️ Important note. All guarantees apply only where the piste rescue service has been called out and has intervened, or the SSUEM (112/118) in the case of an off-piste incident. Without the rescue intervention and its official report, no guarantee can be activated.

All guarantees are also provided on a second-risk basis, in excess of any other insurance policy already in force taken out by the insured person or the policyholder.

1. Third-party liability

What it covers
Physical injury unintentionally caused to third parties during the amateur practice of skiing or snowboarding.

Coverage limits and deductible

  • Injury to third parties: € 250,000 — 10% deductible (minimum € 500)
  • Damage to third-party property: € 10,000 — 10% deductible (minimum € 500)

⚠️ Damage to property is covered only where a third party has suffered physical injury in the same incident, and only in respect of property or animals belonging to the injured parties. If nobody is physically injured, material damage is not indemnifiable.

Who does not count as a third party

  • the spouse, parents and children of the insured person, and any other relative, relative by marriage or cohabitant;
  • members of the same group practising the covered sports activity together with the insured person, unless all of them are covered by the policy.

Important

  • The guarantee applies only where the piste rescue service, or the SSUEM in the case of an off-piste incident, has intervened.
  • If a claim for damages is brought against you, inform the Claims Management Company immediately.
  • Claims must be filed at dsw.24hassistance.com.
  • Check the list of required documents: Snowcare — Required Claim Documents.

What it covers
The assistance of a lawyer to resolve judicial or out-of-court disputes in which you are involved following an incident or injury during amateur snow sports. Covered costs include the lawyer's fees, expert fees, court costs and any opposing counsel's costs in the event of an authorised settlement or an adverse ruling.

Coverage limit
€ 50,000 per claim and per event. No deductible or excess.

Important

  • The guarantee applies only where the piste rescue service, or the SSUEM off-piste, has intervened.
  • The matters for which you are called to answer must not be subject to criminal penalties imposed by the local authorities.
  • Disputes are excluded where the opposing party is the Company, the Intermediary, the Claims Management Company, the policyholder or another person insured with the same Company.
  • You are free to choose your lawyer, provided they are duly qualified and registered with the bar of the district where the competent court sits.
  • Claim submission: dsw.24hassistance.com · see list of documents.

3. Emergency medical expenses

What it covers
Emergency medical expenses incurred immediately after the incident, that is within 24 hours of the date of the injury.

Coverage limit
€ 750 per claim and per event. No deductible or excess.

Important

  • ⚠️ You are required to attend the affiliated medical facilities located in the ski resort where the incident occurred. In that case the Company pays the facility directly, within the limit: you do not have to pay anything up front.
  • Where the ski resort has no affiliated facilities, you may attend another one: the Company reimburses the expenses you incur, evidenced by an invoice, within the limit.
  • The guarantee applies only where the piste rescue service, or the SSUEM off-piste, has intervened.
  • Affiliated clinics: full list.

4. Specialist orthopaedic consultation

What it covers
A second, qualified medical opinion through a teleconsultation service provided by the affiliated network of specialists in orthopaedics and traumatology.

  • It is provided only for injuries of an orthopaedic and traumatological nature occurring during snow sports: other injuries and conditions are excluded.
  • You must provide the documentation of the first medical assessment received.
  • Activation on +39 02 20564 441 or via WhatsApp. Doctors reply within 3 working hours of receiving the documents. The service runs every day, from 10:00 to 18:00. How to activate it.

5. Piste rescue expenses – Italy

What it covers
Ordinary rescue expenses by toboggan or helicopter, arranged by the piste rescue service or by the SSUEM in the case of an off-piste incident.

Coverage limits

  • Toboggan rescue: € 275 per claim and per event
  • Helicopter rescue: € 5,000 per claim and per event

No deductible or excess.

Important

  • ⚠️ In Italy the guarantee applies only if you hold a valid ski pass and the piste rescue service is provided on a chargeable basis. For off-piste incidents, only if the SSUEM service that intervened is likewise provided on a chargeable basis. Where rescue is free of charge, no reimbursable expense arises.
  • In the event of an accident, contact the lift operator's rescue service or 112/118, not 24hassistance.
  • Always obtain the official rescue report: without it, the guarantee cannot be activated.

6. Piste rescue expenses – Abroad

What it covers
Ordinary rescue expenses by toboggan or helicopter arranged by the piste rescue service, where necessitated by your medical condition, during snow sports abroad.

Coverage limits

  • Toboggan rescue: € 1,100 per claim and per event
  • Helicopter rescue: € 10,000 per claim and per event

No deductible or excess.

Important

  • The guarantee applies only to foreign pistes where the ski pass is valid.
  • The piste rescue service must have been called out and have intervened.
  • Call the local rescue service or the national emergency number, and always obtain the rescue report.

7. Driver at your disposal

What it covers
If you reached the slopes in your own car and are unable to drive following an injury, the Claims Management Company provides a driver to take the vehicle and any passengers back to your city of residence, by the shortest route.

Coverage limit
Full cost of the service. No deductible or excess.

Important

  • The guarantee applies only if none of the passengers travelling with you is able to replace you for objective reasons.
  • The piste rescue service (or the SSUEM off-piste) must have intervened, and a medical report must confirm that you cannot move unaided.
  • All transport-related costs — fuel, tolls, insurance and the like — remain entirely and exclusively at your expense.
  • How to activate it.

8. Ski pass refund (Personal Ski Pass only)

What it covers
A pro rata temporis refund of the unused days of your Personal Ski Pass following injury, illness or quarantine. The guarantee also applies where the person affected is a parent of an insured minor, or a minor child of the insured person where that child is also covered by the same policy.

Coverage limit
No limit, no deductible, no excess.

Important

  • Valid only for Personal Ski Passes (bearing a name, photograph or code), of any duration, including non-consecutive days.
  • If the event occurs before snow sports begin, you must provide a medical certificate issued by a public or private facility in your province of residence or in the place of admission, stating the diagnosis and the specific inability to start skiing.
  • If it occurs after the activity has begun, you must provide the piste rescue or SSUEM intervention report for injuries occurring on the slopes; in all other cases, a medical certificate stating the diagnosis and the specific inability to continue skiing.
  • Claim submission: dsw.24hassistance.com.

9. Refund of lessons and equipment rental

What it covers
A pro rata temporis refund of the cost of lessons and of the rental of ski, snowboard, cross-country ski, sledge or toboggan equipment not used following an injury.

Coverage limit
€ 100 per day — fixed deductible € 50.

Important

  • Requires a Personal Ski Pass.
  • The piste rescue service (or the SSUEM off-piste) must have intervened, and a medical report must confirm that you cannot move unaided.
  • The injury must be such as to prevent you from resuming snow activities. The condition must be certified by a doctor and documented by an instrumental examination verifiable by the Company's medical officer.
  • Claim submission: dsw.24hassistance.com.

10. Medical repatriation

What it covers
Once you are declared fit to travel, the Claims Management Company arranges transport home or to another hospital facility, based on the opinion of its own doctors.

Coverage limit
€ 5,000 per claim and per event — one transport service per event. No deductible or excess.

Important

  • Guarantee included only if you hold a Personal Ski Pass.
  • The piste rescue service (or the SSUEM off-piste) must have intervened, and a medical report must confirm that you cannot move unaided.
  • The choice of transport — train, ambulance, scheduled flight or private air ambulance — rests entirely with the Claims Management Company, having regard to your physical condition.
  • How to activate it.

11. Territorial validity

Territorial validity depends on the citizenship and residence of the policyholder:

  • Italian citizen resident in Italy: cover is valid worldwide.
  • Foreign citizen, or Italian citizen resident abroad: cover is limited to amateur snow sports practised in Italy and in neighbouring countries where the ski pass is valid.

⚠️ Both conditions must be met: Italian residence alone, without Italian citizenship, does not extend cover to the rest of the world.

12. Main exclusions

  • ⚠️ Participation in competitive events on any basis, including amateur ones, and training for such events. The only exception is amateur giant slalom and slalom competitions, non-professional and without cash prizes.
  • Claims where the piste rescue service, or the SSUEM off-piste, was not called out and did not intervene.
  • Any incident or injury attributable to the liability of the ski lift operator.
  • Use of the ski pass in breach of its rules.
  • Snowslides and avalanches, whirlwinds, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, storm surges, tidal waves or landslides.
  • Use of drugs, narcotics or medicines not prescribed by a doctor; alcohol abuse.
  • Breach of legal provisions; participation in thefts, robberies or other crimes; intentional acts, wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
  • Suicide or attempted suicide, self-harm; use or possession of weapons.
  • Strikes, riots, terrorism, war and similar events; ionising radiation and radioactive contamination.
  • Third-party liability only: indirect damage; damage that is neither physical nor material; damage arising from the ownership, possession, use or driving of motor vehicles; claims settled with the injured party without the prior consent of the Claims Management Company; and claims for which you have not submitted the completed and signed "Reconstruction of the dynamics of the incident" form.

The Insurance Information Set is authoritative for the complete list.
